(this is really struggling to load pictures. I could only add the one shown...will try to add more at a later time)

Here are a few key concerns with the vehicle currently:

    • Rust (plenty of it unfortunately) - rear wheel arches, lower portions of rear quarters, both rockers (including left rear jack pad mount tearing from the body), driver's A-pillar, right front door moulding fastener holes, rear hatch glass frame, rear hatch spoiler, tail of cargo area under rear bumper, other misc areas, etc.
    • Sunroof inoperative - motor works, but lift pieces are broken (not just the lifter pieces, but the car that the sunroof cable drives). Picking up a spare cassette from a donor vehicle that will go with the sale. Sunroof drains appear to be clogged and I do get water inside at times.
    • Right rear D-glass window broken. It is still in place but the glass took a stone hit and shattered.
    • Rattle (left front) over bumps. Just replaced both sway bar links that calmed the noise down, but there is another staccato rattle that remains which sounds on the surface like a dead shock. (Shocks are OEM and were replaced at around 90k miles - these are VPP Warranty parts but I most likely will not pursue diagnosing this issue).
    • Brake lines rusting under r/f rocker. Repaired with compression fittings (which are not my fave) and should be replaced with proper flared fittings. Right rear caliper bleed screw broke off in caliper - no leaks but makes it trying (at best) to bleed). Brake pedal is low, but lines need addressed, r/r caliper replaced or bleeder fixed, and system bled completely.
    • Burns oil (1qt in consistently just under 1000 miles). Had the GM top engine cleaner cylinder soak which did improve it significantly , but this has regressed to current state.
    • Will need DISA flap kit
    • The only rear suspension work the car has had would be rear subframe bushings prior to 100k, both rear air springs replaced, rear sway link replaced, right rear wheel bearing replaced. I believe that both rear shocks were replaced with OEM prior to 100k but need to verify. Otherwise no other parts have been replaced.
    • DSC warning light will come on at times when driving. This just started. It first happened on 6/29 on my drive in to work, did not come on during the trip home, and only returned again this morning.

    Good things:

    • Euro
    • First aid kit
    • Warning triangle, etc in tailgate storage panel
    • Black headliner
    • Low-overhang euro dashboard
    • Cinnamon interior
    • Drilled / slotted rear rotors with Brembo pads (recent)
    • 540 front brakes (pads and rotors need replaced - Calipers locked up shortly after upgrading. I replaced both front calipers with rebuilt Ate's from Autozone but have not replace the pads and rotors due to where I stand with the car
    • New front wheel bearings
    • Recent Aerosus sport rear air springs
    • A/C cools very well - and recently replaced the AUX fan.
    • Will come with square Style 66's (tires worn to limits). Spare is a Style 66 with the original Conti-sport still installed.

This is just a high-level snip of the vehicle and I will be more than happy to answer any questions asked. I could also provide a more comprehensive list of the good/bad stuff with the car, (including providing pictures) but I think this gives a broad-stroke idea.
I have had a difficult time keeping up with the car and it's simply overrunning my budget for both time and money. Unfortunately I must concede that I have not done a proper job keeping after it. Once I left the auto service business, that increased the difficulty exponentially. Regarding the rust - it had a challenging life prior to me regarding collisions and body repairs. combine that with Ohio winters and this is the unfortunate result.

This would be a project for sure, or maybe someone would want the various bits that made the car so special. I could not support "project part-out" myself due to time constraints. I hate this...I really dig this car but we have two e39's (along with a third car) and we are completely revisiting where we stand with vehicles and I must let this one go.

Feel free to send a PM (however, I will not get those during business hours, so kindly bear with me on the replies). Text is acceptable as well...330.280.4578

    Thank you for looking -

    Tony

My apologies. This car was ordered (and purchased new) through BMW Niederlassung in Bonn, Germany by the PO then it was brought to the States and federalized by JKT right after. It was delivered to us when I was writing service at a BMW shop her in Ohio and we took care of it since new. I have all of the transaction documents from the original owner, including all of their service records since new.

thanks rgao! I appreciate that. I do love it and certainly wish money were no object. I would return it to its original state regardless of cost if I could.

ps...your 750 listed in your signature seems damned tasty btw... I always liked the feel of the v12 cars...

Post up some more pics! It's a crazy rare combo that never really made it to the US, so I'm sure you'll find somebody that wants to take on a very unique car.

and yes...more pics needed. These are a bit dated but give you an idea of the color combo. (smudge on camera makes the colors look really flat though...)

I'll be working on posting better (and more recent) photos. The one with the rear door open was taken right after I purchased it when the air suspension pump was inop...thus the tucked rear wheel...no, it's not "stanced"..lol)
