I have a 1987 325 and I was planning on keeping the diving board bumper but I would like to change the front valance with out changing the bumper. I've seen some varying claims on different forums but I'm more than certain that I will have to cut the tow hook off. The valance I was looking at getting is the Bavarian Autosport one (https://www.bavauto.com/bmw-valence-panel-41331961227). Would this late model valance be a direct bolt-on on my early model? Also if this valance is a direct bolt-on what air ducts and trim pieces would I need to get in order to complete the look?
In 1988 they (bmw) were producing late model valance for coupe and sedan with the tucked aluminum bumper. The next year they went plastic using the same valance.
You'll need to cut both front tow hooks off to use that valance, but other than that yes it bolts on. You'll need the lip spoiler, fog lamps, under trays, fender liners and duct work to match the late model valance to go with it.
