Hi,
I have a 2002 E39 540i with the DSP radio and business CD. Long story short, the system is fried.
So up to now been using a portable Bluetooth speaker and my cell phone to manage. Don't want to spend thousands restoring radio so was wondering how hard would it be to install the following Bluetooth compatible sound bar on the parcel shelf (rear window deck) and somehow jerry-rig a power inverter to a 12v line that switches on with the ignition?
Soundbar: https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-ATS-10.../dp/B0758BC8HQ
Or should I have someone wire in a standard radio, small pre-amp, and send sound to some aftermarket speakers?
Hi,
Install a single DIN premium brand head unit that has bluetooth and either wire directly using the internal amplifier to entry level 5.25 inch front components and 5.25 inch co-axial speakers on the rear deck, from one of the prestige car audio speaker brands.
Forget trying to install the sound bar, it's not car audio grade, so doesn't have UV protection in it's component materials, won't also have high and low temperature ranges handling/characteristics, nor has any good moisture/dust/humidity protection in the build materials, in short, it won't last too long in a car interior environment.
Cheers, Dennis!
Much thanks!
