Notice slight ticking just as I begin accelerating and it goes away at about 20mph...oil level is correct, just changed. Just got the car, and drove it only once so don't know if it was there all along. 190k miles, very well kept.
Check the oil pressure. S/b about 50 psi at 1000 RPM.
Have the chain guides been replaced? If not, they are overdue. They typically last circa 150k.
Try replacing the chain tensioner.

No idea, just bought it...
Check for baseball cards in the spokes. If you find a Honus Wagner it’s mine
Kinda common noise...probably related to the coils if you mostly hear it at idle and low speed. Mine was...there's a video of the difference posted somewhere in the archives.

And it's not just the hydraulic lifters ticking? Mine ticks like a diesel every spring. 3x2min at 3000rpm idle (Actually a TIS procedure) and it's smooth as silk.

It does NOT make any sound sitting idling, even when I rev it pretty high. Only happens < 40mph...Prior put in new coils and plugs, I was told, haven't spoke to him but his dad mentioned it. Makes me worry. Fresh oil change, 0/40 synthetic. No low oil pressure light.
What is 'the tin man'?
I may double check all spark plugs for looseness but why no sound at idle or revving?
I'm confused: You state that it does not make any sound, but the video clearly shows a noise.

Probably vanos.
That would be my guess, too.

I have no vanos. Funny I was reading other posts people saying 1/2 quart extra oil fixes it. I did notice it tonight when the car was warm. I put in a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer, no change. Using Amsoil Euro 0-40. Have checked oil pump, tight. With summer temps in MI in the am, can't imagine why lifters would tick.
I will find out about the chain tensioner, funny I just had that apart doing the upper timing cover gaskets...
Somehow someone thought those videos were mine, those are a bmw with vanos, I don't have it. Going to get under and check the tin covers and look for anything that I can that might be rattling. I have to say it sounds like lifters, and it does do it when warm and cold, but not always. Will look around, but have to talk to the prior owner if he replaced the tensioners, haven't done that yet...
Have not taken out the chain tensioner, may do that this week and make sure it's clean, but doubt issues, oil pan off and it was very clean so doubtful motor is gunky. Did some testing. Both rear wheels up, in drive, no clicking. Turned Traction control off, same. Tried with one wheel up and other down, swapped, nothing. so it appears nothing in the rear wheels is the cause. Today at low speed it ticked, I tossed it in neutral, kept revs the same, tick stayed. So possibly not trans?
Do need to try front wheels up and spinning but likely can't spin fast enough.
