Howdy - I've been combing through this forum looking for other folks who've had this problem and I'd like to start by saying:
Struts absolutely have an affect on the ride hight if the lower spring perch is integrated into the strut body.
Anyway, I installed a full set of B6s on the car last night, got it on the ground and the front is way off. Rear is fine (because they are shocks, and do not affect ride height.)
I crawled under the car and did some measuring: turns out the distance from the top of the bottom spring perch to the knuckle seat (where the strut fits into the carrier) is about an inch longer than the Sachs that came off it. This is a non M sport car, no special suspension. Bone stock.
Unfortunately now the camber is actually slightly negative because the geometry is all out of whack.
I've seen posts about Billy HDs doing this, and as I understand it the B6 is what the HDs used to be. Anyone else deal with Bilstein over this issue?
Thanks in advance - Phil.
Wow!!! I was under the impression they had fixed this!!??!!
