Hey guys, I bought an automatic 1992 525i(non vanos) with a blown head gasket so I figured I'd just buy a new engine instead of fixing it, so I put in a new m50 engine with vanos and it's ecu/wiring harness (I suspect its a manual engine and ecu) and bolt it up and turn the key and the starter turned but the starter wasn't engaging correctly. I also heard the relays next to the ECU clicking... So I buy a new starter and turn the key and now nothing is happening. No fuel pump sounds, no clicking relay sounds, the car is completely silent and refuses to start up.
I don't think I have anything plugged in correctly but I was hoping it'd at least crank up...
Could this be an ews thing? I'm going to replace the relays tomorrow with the ones from the original wiring harness just to throw parts at it. It just really bothers me it gave power to the starter but after I replaced it now it won't. I feel like I shorted something

Forgot to mention - I jumped the starter relay with no change and I also checked all fuses
Any ideas? Anyone know how ews works or if it's even relevant here? Something has got to be stopping the computer from turning the car over
Could I potentially delete the vanos and use the old ECU?
is the ecu a red label or a silver label?
