I recently bought a 2005 ZHP e46. One thing that I noticed while cleaning stuff out was how much of the trunk is unused space - the felt "walls" are basically covering a lot of empty room, which got me thinking - is it possible to take some of the e46 wagon trunk out of a junker car and retrofit to a sedan?
asking here cause you guys are my wagon bros.
You might want to post pictures of the area you're talking about, but I don't see major panel fab for gaining minimal storage space worth it. Are you actively trying to fit something large in your trunk?

Maybe he doesn't want to ruin the integrity of his three freshly deceased hookers. Maybe even fit one more.
I love ZHPs.
The felt walls protect the outer skin of the car from all sorts of things that could be rattling around in the trunk and dinging it. What you COULD do is get the panels from a 323i or basically any of the early E46s that don’t have the provisions in the sides for all of the electronic options. That would allow you to free up maybe 1 to 2 cubic feet of space. I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it’s worth it.
I know E46 trunks aren't all that big, but check before you jump. When I first got an E39 touring I was aghast at all the wasted space back there. Well, some of it was, and if I was the designer I think there would be a lot more space, but not all that much was unused. And on my second touring, a 02 525it, there's even less and very little that could be gained by changing panels.

Why on earth would you do that, just buy a wagon
