Drivers Kickpanel Fit and too close to clutch pedal?

I'm still sorting the M Roadie out, the dead pedal was gone when i purchased it, didn't even realize it when i drove it home. No big deal, purchased a new kickpanel from BimmerBum, finally got a chance to replace the speakers. Can't figure out where the tab goes that's facing the firewall, its just carpet. The fit is ok, but certainly less than secure. I noticed last night that when i engaged the clutch the panel would move, there isn't much room for my size 10 shoes (no size jokes). My shoe would catch the dead pedal and hit the dead pedal, when i got home I plucked the old one out of the trash and noticed the dead pedal was cut off, not broken like i had suspected. I know that i need to secure the new one better once i figure out where that back tab goes, but wondering if it's worthwhile if there's no room for my foot... what am i missing?

There's a slot in the carpet__you need a brighter light next time you look under there...
