Man, you sure did sell it fast, nice job! Thanks for the info, I'll look into that.
Agreed, we had this chat actually further back I think lol.

single mass flywheel conversion, and set of 4pintle injectors (ford or other)
Best bang for the M42.
If get into the guts or just pull cams, check out the VW/Audi lifters, they are INA brand and much much lighter than BMW. Less mass = faster revs up top I've a set in each M42 car, and buddies run them in M50's for track use so they hold up just like stock.

He’s got injectors and flywheel, but for sure needs a chip. Always wanted to try out the VW lifters just never got around to it.

Got one issue fixed over the weekend, the fact that after idling for a few minutes, the temp gauge would read all the way in the red. At first it terrified me, but I knew the car couldn't overheat that fast and the engine was running perfect. So I risked it and drove the entire '02 fest with it in the red, and had no issues, but wanted to get it fixed. I thought it was because it still used the M42 temp sensor and not the M10, but I switched that out and it did nothing, still was in the red. So I tried swapping out the instrument cluster from my '78 car, and it read dead center to a little above. So I took both clusters apart and put the temp gauge from the '78 into the other cluster, and now it works perfectly.

That temp gauge was bothering me too. Weird the whole gauge itself was jacked up. I assume there’s no way to calibrate one?

Could be poor grounding of the gauge (due to messed up ribbon wires) had it reading too high..
Haven't done much to the E21 lately until last week, other cars have had my attention. I bought euro 7" light grills with the car, and the tabs that adjust the lights were broken, so I went about fixing that. I took the light apart, made some tabs out of sheet metal, and riveted them into place, then resealed the glass and put it back together. While I was at it I got to repaint the awful fire orange headlight beauty rings.

I also got some euro bumpers recently, so I installed the front one while doing the euro grills as well. I followed ButteDorFrank's instructions, and it wasn't very hard at all. Next I need to make some custom brackets and I can do the rear as well. I have a Zender rear valance on order too.
I still have to put the rubber trim on, and I need to find a different front valance, stock one is beat up and doesn't look very good. What is the best valance to get for a euro bumper conversion and where can I find it?
I also started doing a chrome mirror conversion, I like them better then the plastic ones and had them on my '78 parts car so it was essentially free. It also was nice that I could get the precise measurements for the holes as well. I am having some block off plates made for where the old mirrors were, and they should be done in a couple weeks.

I put a piece of tape on the door, then made crosshairs out of the horizontal and vertical measurements, then drilled in the middle of each crosshair. Worked perfectly!(I took the picture after I had drilled, moved the tape, and put the bracket in it's place)

Next on the list will be a sunroof delete panel, replacing door/window seals, maybe even paint soon...

Finally got back on to this after 3 months, I've been working on an E36 and I bought a Jeep CJ5, and that's had my attention. Anyway the main fuel line was leaking so I replaced the line and double clamped it. Fired right up, didn't even have to charge the battery. Still doesn't have a sunroof panel, and I still need to paint it....
