I need to order a new wheel set after breaking one of my 4 discontinued BBS RK's. Driving around on 3 and a spare is no fun. I looked into replacing just one with a used RK to fix my set. But either nobody has them or they want waayy too much.
If im going to have to spend what a new set would cost anyways, I'd just get new and move to wider for more rubber. Currently im on a 17x8 et40 square setup. I'm considering moving to either 17x9 et30 with 245/40/17 square or a 17x9.5 et35 with 265/35/17 square.
How much is too much tire for an E36?

You're going to be limited by what will fit, unless you want to hack apart your fenders. 17x9 ET30 with 245's square will fit if you roll your rear fenders. 17x9 ET42 with 255's will similarly fit if you roll your rear fenders and use a 12mm spacer in front (245's will fit on these wheels without a fender roll). Anything wider than that will require new fender flares or similar metalwork to give you more clearance.
