I have a 2005 MINI Cooper with the stock Alpine Boost radio (CD53 R50). I'm trying to build my own bluetooth streaming solution. I have the streaming part working, as well as IBUS communication working (CD changer emulation), but cannot figure out how to send custom text to my radio LCD.
I've looked through the various documents online with IBUS commands, but nothing about sending text to the radio.
How can I tell if it is even possible?
Thanks!
Hello and welcome to the forum! Can you explain what you mean by 'custom text'? Like emojis and such or what?

Custom text as in...
The radio has various modes - AM/FM/Aux/CD/CDC - it supports RDS text. However, I would like to be able to write to the display with my own custom text, IE:
Spotify
and perhaps:
Song Title / Artist (scrolling?)
If I had a MID unit, I know I can - using an IBUS command - send text to it. See this YouTube video of a BMW Business radio and custom text:

But for the life of me I can't figure out how they did it.

From the comments it sounds like they got the radio to display text via the Telephone (0xc8), but the IKE might have orchestrated everything and I'm not yet ready to hook this up to my car.
