1979 323i (German) speedo cable

Hey guys! New to the forum and new to E21s so please give me some slack if my question comes off se too newbish.

i recently bought a 79 323i, German market, and the speedo cable is snnaped. I’ve been doing quite a bit of research but I keep getting conflicting answers and results as to the type of cable my car uses.

Some say it’s the 2 piece cable while others say it’s the single long cable.

can anyone point me in the right direction? I greatly appreciate all the help I can get since I want to get this fixed ASAP.

**Edit** I bought the car about a week ago and I just found out the previous owner did an E30 gearbox swap, so evidently the mechanical speedo is done for. While there are many solutions to get around this, if anyone has a fairly practical one I´d appreciate it.

For now I need to get the tach working since it isn´t working either.
