I know the release bearing face adjust itself but is this too off.
I have never noticed this on any clutch/pressure plate,
but then again; my clutch replacements, on any brand of vehicle,
have truthfully been few & far between!

I would say this wear is not normal on a new installation,
But could be high-mileage wear.
Hope others can respond.
Insert the alignment tool and wiggle it as far in as it will go. I had this issue doing my clutch, the clutch disk just wasnt centered properly.

Is the pilot bearing in the crankshaft and in good condition?
Yes, it is a brand new genuine pilot bearing. Thanks for the responses. Given the failure of the release bearing after a year and 3 months I've decided to order a new clutch kit, this time Sachs and genuine bearings. Will be installing this weekend. The first kit I installed was an Ebay kit that came with both bearings.
Not taking any chances this time.
Ebay!
Should have guessed.
