2006 BMW 325i
My stepson ran off the road in the car.
the wiring and connector to the oil level sensor and oxygen sensor wires have been broken.
How can this be fixed? Is there replacement wireing that can be purchased?
i have searched and not really found much info on the wiring, itÂ’s self.
here are pictures of the carnage.

Well that didn’t work.
how do you post a picture from your phone?
You can't post a picture until after you have at least ten posts.
Wiring repairs can be difficult. BMW does sell the plugs, the pins that go in the plugs, etc....but buying them is an incredible P.I.T.A., because each piece is sold separately, and the components aren't actually identified to particular connectors.
Your best bet is to find a salvage yard that will let you go cut the wires off a car, with plugs and a foot of wiring. OR, find a reputable BMW specialist shop in Las Vegas, and have them complete the repairs for you. Sensor wiring must be done perfectly, by the way. This means strip both end pieces of each wire, put appropriate sized heat shrink tubing onto each wire, crimp with a professional UNINSULATED crimp connector. Pull to see if you truly have a viable crimp. Solder. Then after the solder cools, pull the heat shrink tubing into place and seal the connection. Repeat for each wire.
And, um, send the stepson to TireRack's / BMWCCA's "Teen Street Survival" program in your area......

What about replacement of the whole engine wiring harness?
Would that be a viable option?
What is the difficulty level of replacing the harness?
Um, really? You've got a couple or three grand just hanging out, with nothing better to spend it on?
Just fix what's broken. My 2 cents, your 2 grand.

I looked up the(correct?) harness to illustrate the point made above and was shocked to see it isn't four figures, https://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/...517563098.html
labor, of course, is another issue so do what he^ said
this never happens when I need something

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
I'm also shocked, ross. The last engine wiring harness I needed (years ago, when I worked at the dealership), was $1200. Still, it's no fun to run all that wiring through all those tight spots, requiring removing manifolds and what-not. I still can't imagine getting out the door for less than four figures. I'd fix the damaged portions.....

Ok well I can probably figure out what wires to splice back together, but all the plugs are gone or broken.
Can you point me in the right direction to find the plugs?
With out a picture to show, best description is that there is a plastic triangle, wire loom or separator, down low, close to the oil pan, that holds and branches off, looks like four wire sets.
I can figure one goes to the oil level sensor. Not sure about the others. And one gray sheathed wire set that goes to an O2 sending on the exhaust pipe.
I have seen the engine wire harness with all that I described on EBay, for around $150. Is purchasing one from eBay, not a good idea?
Again your right, I don’t know what the difficulty level is to replace the harness, even if I found one affordable.
Can you guys point me in the right direction for manuals, diagrams and parts catalogs or sites to find the repair items and procedures?
Searching has not yielded much that I can find.
There really aren't any manuals or diagrams showing the repair items and procedures. There's no reason to avoid the eBay wiring harness, if it's for the right vehicle, since no-one's going to be selling a counterfeit part, just used ones from salvage vehicles. You can also buy a harness from one os the salvage yards at : http://car-part.com
Enter your car, choose "interchange with similar 2006-2007", look for wiring harness, then engine wiring harness. I found several for $150 in SoCal.
When you repair/splice wiring, you need to cut the wires, strip 1/4", use UNinsulated crimps and a professional grade crimping tool. put heat shrink tubing on the wires, crimp the opposite side, pull on the wires to make sure the crimps are good, then solder each connection, then heat shrink the tubing, then put the wire bundle into split loom or friction tape, and tie it safely out of the way.

OMG, Chris, I just noticed you are 5 posts from 20,000! Noteworthy is that the great majority of them are in aid of another member. Very noteworthy and esteemable.
Well I am thinking the whole engine harness is going to be my best option.
i have not heard of any salvage yards in Las Vegas for Bmw’s Or tha handles much but I will research and see.
otherwise I guess it will be a used one from some source such as eBay.
Are you aware of any resources that instruct on the removal and installation of the engine harness and how difficult it is to do.
i know it is probobly extreamly tight in most areas, but isn’t it mostly unplugging old and plugging in the new?
i can’t even get a smog test done and passed to get it registerd in Las Vegas, until I get the witing fixed.
