Car hasn't been driven that much lately. There is a rubbing noise that goes away when the parking brake is applied. Initially I thought it was just a clip or something from when I did rear brakes. Now I'm starting to think it's something bigger. Possibly rear bushings or something that when the parking brake is taught (while car is moving forward) it puts enough load on the rear suspension (and maybe driveshaft) to pull the rubbing parts apart from each other. I know the shift lever bushings are shot. I've done front wheel bearings and know it probably needs rears. not sure what else it could be or where to look to start pinpointing what is wrong. Don't need the car day-to-day so knowing it also needs a clutch soon, should I put it up and drop everything back from the rear main seal (transmission, DS, rear suspension and subframe, etc. then figure it out as I take it apart/put it back together? Or is rubbing on older, higher mileage cars something typical or easier than that?
Car is 1997. 320k miles. Thanks.
"If" you plan on keeping it for any length of time, yes. On the transmission: Shift shaft seal, rear main seal, glibo and transmission mounts.
