    Convertible Top Microswitch

My roof started acting up. Became "hit and miss" for a bit, then more "miss" than "hit". Found the wire from the micro switch was frayed from repeated bending over the last 20 years. Got a new microswitch with wires. I read that you need to pull the trim up just behind the drivers door to get at where the connector is. It's a short pair of wires, so the connector is probably just below where they disappears just below the folding arms of the roof. Anyone removed that trim? Kind of rubbery. I don't want to break it and I don't see any screws or tabs holding it in place. Do I just pull harder or am I missing something? It is a lousy tight spot to work. I may be approaching this the hard way. Pointers are welcome. Thanks!

    I had the same issue.
    Different solution though.
I just cut the wires by the switch and shorted them together.

Did away with he switch completely.

If your not comfortable pulling the trim pieces. You could always cut the wire about 1” back from the switch and splice the new switch into place.

Hmmm. Tempting, but I think half my problem is that frayed wire, so want to replace the whole thing. The other half of my problem is being lazy and not taking the seat out so I can crawl in and take a proper look in that corner. I'll do that on my next day off. I'm sure it is an easy fix, just may require me to actually put some effort into it. Will update. Thanks for the reply.

Turned out easy. Pull large rubber square from inside corner of door jamb. Back off bolt beneath it to allow trim piece covering the connector to slide past the bolt. Connector is right there and easily accessible. Switch replaced and roof working again.
