HeadUnit communication failure

Hello,
I wonder if you could help me out with the following issue: After a failed ISTA/P programming session (aborted with end session) ISTA/P or ISTA/D can no longer communicate with the Head Unit (HU) in my 428i 2016. All other ECUs are accessible from ISTA/P+D. The central display shows that the HU is in Maintenance Mode. See attached screenshot. I have checked the fuse to HU. Why can't ISTA/P+D suddenly not communicate with HU? HU worked fine before the failed programming session. Is there a way to hard reset the HU? I have tried to disconnect the battery overnight.
