a 99 323 convertible popped up for sale locally that i'm thinking about buying. It is kind of rough, so i may part it out and just use some of the parts. I know 99 e36s are a little weird from the others. It's a 5 speed, so would it be the getrag transmission since it has the 2.5 M52 in it? or would it be the ZF like the 328s? That's my main question
If it is an e36 it is a regular single vanos m52. If it is an e46 then it is a dual vanos aluminum M52TU. 99 was the cutoff year and there were e36 and e46 produced.

yes it is the single vanos M52 because it is an e36. I believe the M52b25 not the M52b28 like the 328s. I'm not worried about the engine. I'm mainly needing to know what 5 speed is behind it.
If it was the ZF it would be worth me buying. If it's the getrag i'll pass. I can always check it out and look, but it may be hard to tell so i figured i would ask
Should be a ZF, the Getrag was in the early cars only but I could be wrong. If it is a 323 model it's the 2.5, if it's a 328 then it's the 2.8.

I don't know either. I have always heard the e36 m3 and e36 328 are the only ones that have a ZF in them
Hopefully someone will chime in that may have taken one apart
Look on realoem.com, that would be a definitive way to be sure.

I can never navigate that website very well, but i looks like it's a S5D 250G which i would imagine would be a getrag?
Yes the 250 is a Getrag.

If you part it out I'd be interested in some convertible parts, if you're willing to ship to Washington State!
I have the 1999 323ic and just finished replacing the clutch a few months ago. Mine is the Getrag.
