    Removing inner hood/trunk structure

I tried to do some searching but didn't find much info on technique or ROI on removing the inner support structures on the hood and trunk. My hood is damaged, and my truck latch area is arguably beyond repair, so it seems like a good candidate to save some weight on.

Has anyone done this or have any insight on difficulty? the hood seems like it is less involved then the trunk form a quick inspection.

I cut my trunk out similar to Klodkrawler's then put took some more for air flow from my rear mount rad.

My hood structure is nearly complete besides the portion cut out for my hood vent.

I have had good luck using a dremel cut off wheel parallel to the hood/truck skin to cut thru the glue, then carefully using an angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the structure (without going through the skin!!!) around the edges.

The bonding material on the hood structure to hood is a pain in the butt to separate. Easily the hardest thing about the job, can't pry them apart, damages hood and paint. I used a heatgun but progress was very slow and tedious. Cutting it out was very simple.
