My 2003 540i with sport and cold weather packages and 205k mi on the odometer has finally bit the dust. Specifically, the car overheats and burns off coolant (head gasket? cracked block?) and I知 ready to move on. I was originally planning to part out, but thought I would see if anyone is interested in the whole car first. If any interest, message me and I値l provide more details, pictures, etc.

With a dead car this old, donate it to your local animal shelter or PBS.

If the car is in otherwise decent shape, you should sell it so somebody can either fix it or swap in another engine. Or you could find another M62tu, they池e super cheap and easy to find. Then you could swap it in yourself and sell the car for much more.

Around here the charity places have started saying "must be a running car", i.e. not taking junkheaps anymore. I guess the junkyard scrap values are too low for the hassle.
Are you sure its eating coolant and not leaking it? Valley pan and crossover leaks can end up towards the back of the car so sometimes they get misdiagnosed. You can also test the coolant for combustion byproducts to see if its really indeed a busted block or HG.
