Hello,
I am thinking of taking out my comfort seats in my 1989 E24 and adding sport seats from an E30.
Can anyone recommend a specific set of seat mounting adapter plates? How high do these plates raise the seat usually?
Anyone gone through this and have any specific recommendations or tips? It seems like once you have a mounting spacer they swap right in yes?
I've read a few threads but it seems like a lot of the adapters referenced are NLA.
Thanks for any tips,
-cAyle
You might have to make them
In addition to might have to make them, there was a fellow on the Mye28 forum who was making really nice sets. I have also seen them in the E24 parts section of Ebay time to time. Try a search on Mye E28. Big problem is the upholstery pattern wont match and probably won't have a fold forward feature for the seat back, but maybe you will get lucky ????

For awhile I was having trouble with the electronic adjustments on my E24's comfort seats, and was considering just replacing them with manual sports. I did a little research into the subject, but ended up fixing the comforts (basically just cleaning and re-lubing all the cables) and since then have learned to love them. But I can understand the desire for some nice sport seats.
Do you already have the E30 seats? If not, I'd consider finding a pair of genuine period-correct Recaros. I think the adapter plates for them are more easily found (or can be made). Also, from what I've read the E30 seats are slightly smaller and therefore won't look "correct" in an E24 interior. However, they are more plentiful.
Used Recaros come up for sale every once in awhile on the forums. Somebody on bigcoupe.com currently has a pair of Recaro SE's for sale although it looks like they need a little work and I don't know if they have the fold-forward release.

Thanks for the info guys I decided to just get some e24 seats.
I was able to pick up a pair of 87' e24 sport seats. They are pretty rough and now I'm on the search for a teardown guide so I can rebuild them
