I got this code on my wife's 2014 touring diesel. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be? All I am finding is related to the 335d 6 cylinder engines, but nothing on the 2 liter fours.
I bought the Schwaben reader thinking it would give me more info, but that was a waste of money.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
Take a look at the link below - they give an explanation what they codes means and possible problem areas. The same systems would be affected, whether inline 6 or 4 banger.

See if you can pull the BMW specific code for this? Not the useless P codes.
I think the Schwaben may pull bmw codes.
There are 1941 available BMW codes for this ecu, with specific descriptions. Lucky for you, I have the same car, and am very familiar with the systems.
P2457 correlates to (one or more of these):
0x29EB00 exhaust gas recirculation-cooling, plausibility: EGR-cooler Bypass flap faulty or cooler efficiecy too low
0x2C6600 exhaust gas recirculation-cooling, plausibility: EGR-cooler Bypass flap does not close
0x2C6900 exhaust gas recirculation-cooling, plausibility: EGR-cooler Bypass flap does not open
0x331800 exhaust gas recirculation-cooling, plausibility: EGR-cooler Bypass flap mechanically defective near open position
so P codes are rather vague (useless in my opinion).... but you should look at the egr cooler flap control mechanism

Thanks for the replies.
I bought the Schwaben reader thinking it would give me the BMW codes, but after scanning it says its all OK. Unless I am using it incorrectly.
I am going to try again this weekend with the scanner and also look at the EGR valve and see what I find.
Will update the thread once I do.
So after fighting with both the Schwaben code reader and INPA to no avail, I decided to go ahead and start removing stuff to see if anything looked out of place.
After removing the airbox and all the covers, you can clearly see the cooler and the EGR on top.

It had some soot build up but nothing crazy or alarming. I cleaned some of it and the valve moved down by pulling with my hand. It felt like it was working properly to me.

Next I started looking at the vacuum chamber:

The spring was ok, as I could move the arm by hand and it would easily spring back. You could also see the flap inside of the cooler moving and opening up. It was not stuck at all.

Unfortunately I did not have a vacuum pump with me to see if it would move under vacuum or if there are any cracks/leaks. The chamber is very hidden under the cooler, so once its all put back together you really cannot see whether its moving or not.
My next steps are:
1. Get a vacuum pump, take it apart again and see if the vacuum chamber moves under vacuum. If it moves I might reset the code to see if it comes back. I have been avoiding resetting the code in case I was able to read the BMW code.
2. I just downloaded a different version of INPA. Will try that and see if this one works.
3. Buy the whole cooler/EGR/vacuum chamber assembly at $680 and hopefully that clears.
4. If none of the above work. Burn down the stupid car ...
BTW, worth a shot but is there any of you guys in south Florida that has INPA and can help me read the code? I am in West Plam, but will gladly drive to you and throw some money for your troubles if we can read the BMW code.
Thanks!

Before you burn it, I'll take the red interior!

What is the issue you are running into with INPA?
