Climate control panel won't cut on

Any ideas? I checked the fuses. Before it quit it cut on/off intermittently.

I am not following the wording.

Your cruise is inop? If so, chances are VERY high you need a reman amp. Not a used one. Cruisecontrolrepair.com speak with Kris Rose there. He does all my electronic work for Euro cars...now, protip. If your amp had water in it, which is possible due to its location in the E23, you are better off finding a non U-boat'd amp and have that rebuilt.

My climate control is inoperable. It won't turn on at all everything else works, just no heat or a/c.

    Ooooooooo, shit. Sorry. Misread!

So when you flip the left thumbwheel from the 'O' position you have those three lines then the blower volume yes? Does the blower fan work at all? There are blower resistors, when they are bad fan works on high only. There are relays, when bad fan is kaput. Then there is a tiny microswitch in there to turn on and off the entire works, when that is bad nothing works.

That panel sends 12V out to the compressor. It makes an initial pitstop beside the glovebox in a fuse, some cars have a glass fuse while others run that ATO style. Then that runs to the high switch on the dryer first, which is normally closed unless head pressure too high and pops open. Next, it runs to the low switch which is normally open unless sufficient pressure is in the system to close it. Finally it runs to the A/C compressor and splits off to trip the low speed aux fan.

Heat is only cut at max cold via engine vacuum to close the pod.

    Maybe it helped.

I'm thinking micro switch since it won't cut on at all.

Oh you liked that one? try www.e32.org/e23 for a pile more with lots of dead links to. Just because they were found on the web doesn't mean they last forever but some good stuff there. Dont forget to get your ETM for the US model (quite a bit will be the same as the €) from the middle of the left column and the owner's manual from the bottom of the left column. Either the US 86 or the ZA 745i, the ///M-motored E23.

Update: The microswitch swap did the trick. Thanks again.
