I need rotors on my newly acquired e46 (2006 325ci)
Are aftermarket parts acceptable or is oem that much above??? Recommended suppliers welcome!

Not a single suggestion for parts suppliers?

OEM, ATE, Pagid, Jurid, or Zimmerman. Aftermarket rotors tend to be poorly balanced.
This is a part I would buy from a local auto parts store should they need to be returned.
Buy rotors at the dealer or buy Zimmerman rotors from fcpeuro. Why Zimmerman? They’re made in Germany and the company is a supplier to BMW. Do not buy aftermarket rotors as they’ll warp very quickly.
Zimmerman it is.
The rotors on her now suck they are super warped and very thin. Huge lip on all 4.

Get brembo oem rotors. They are the oem manufacturer for BMW and they are much cheaper for the stock part numbers.

I'm running texter pads and rotors so far so good
Textar is one of the OEM's for BMW. Textar and zimmerman rotors are exactly the same and are good. Same rotor you would get from bmw, just without the little bmw logo on them.
Ive found textar pads to be way too dusty for my liking though. I usually go with akebono ceramics for pads.
Textar doesnt seem to have as widespread retail as zimmerman, so they arent commonly found at parts stores. But any shop with a worldpac account can order them in.

I went with Brembo pads and rotors on my 2006 325ci and 1997 840ci. They seem to work great.
I've used ATE rotors for years. They are an OEM supplier, are readily available and work just fine. I've also used Brembo with good results.
I went with Zimmerman/akebono from FCPEuro.

Balo from Germany is also good.
Watch out with ATE, recently did the rear brakes on our 330xi and noticed ATE is now producing there rotors in China. Quality is definitely way down from the German made units (read: poor coating finish, casting quality poor, etc..). Compare with Zimmerman I just installed on the fronts.

I used ATE for decades as well, but they've lost me on rotors.

I used Brembos on three previous cars. The QA for this brand is good.
Alpine 318ic FTMFW!
The Zimmerman/akebono combo is working nicely.

I agree beware of ATE. I ordered a set for my E39 from Bavarian Autosport and two were "Made in Germany" and two were "Made in China". My dad also ordered a set for his E39 and all of his were German.
I think the Zimmerman rotors are the best bet
