After having an E36 and replacing several times until I purchased an aluminum Mishimoto reservoir tank, I would like to be proactive and get one for my 2007 X3, if there are any available from other manufacturers.
I had to replace my reservoir tank 4 times in 10 years on my E36 with the last one lasting about one year before it developed a leak in the tank.
The other option would be to do a replace the tank every 3 years since that seems to be the typical lifespan.

The X3 isn't an E36. Replace the stock tank every ten years, don't let the car overheat, and it'll be just fine.

Thanks, just picked up the 07 a couple weeks ago, may be a good idea to replace it soon since I have no idea how old it is.
