Hello all, so my left driver side mirror cover flew off in a storm and got smashed. I’m buying a replacement but it comes primed.
My question is can I buy a can of Orient Blue and is it easy enough to do for such a small job?
Thanks!

Should be as simple as just spraying it as if it’s anything else,

Thanks, do you know if they sell the paint with clear coat included? I found a can of base paint on Amazon

amazon or you can look on paintscratch.com or one of those that provides automotive touch up paint. For clear coat the two part one is the way to go. Will give a nice factory finish and if you put enough on you can wet sand and buff out any imperfections. I bought a can of this on amazon.
Thanks! Got fixed up at paintscratch.com

Hi mandagon, others,
Mandagon, you suggest it is easy to beautifully spraypaint a primed part of BMW e38? I do not want to hijack the thread, but I am considering buying a BMW E38 rear bumper. They come primed and I was wondering if I can spraypaint it myself (and: will the paint last, will it be nice - assuming that I apply the right way of doing it).
regards, Sopado
I could never get myself to the level of a professional paint job with these sprays, but probably doing something wrong. The clear coat was never the same quality.
tnx george best, so it's probably better to buy a primed new bumper and have it painted professionally. shouldn't break the bank i think/assume/hope
SopaDo,
Where did you get the bumper from. I also need one

Using the 2k catalyzed clearcoat helps. I used it on a fender for the wife’s old E46 and other than a touch of orange peel I wasn’t comfortable attacking further it ended up pretty perfect. I was surprised. Without wet sanding it looked like poo, but afterwards, not bad.
+1 on that 2K clear coat. The regular clear coat from auto stores will not harden or be as wet sandable as a 2 part 2k one. The 2k comes with a hardener that you activate by cracking a vial of it, inside the can. The can will only last about 48hrs after this. The finish is pretty dam good, all depends on humidity too. If you are doing a large part and have too much orange peel, you can wet sand and polish and it comes out fantastic. Im going to do this to my trunk soon.

Strong-Strut, the manufacturer of the e38 shock tower brace has factory matching spray paint in a kit or you can buy just the color and clear coat and skip the primer. They are also in process
of a special manufacturing run of the previously discontinued e38 Strong-Struts. You can contact them at strong-strut.com or pre36@cox.net
