95 e36 audio problems

So I have a 95 e36 325i and recently i have been having issues with the stock audio system. So the radio will turn on but no sound will come out. On top of that there is no chimes for anything like turning the car on, leaving keys in ignition, or anything. Any suggestions?

Chimes are control by a separate buzzer under the steering wheel, attached to the knee panel - it could be simply disconnected.
Your OEM stereo issues are either due to bad radio or amplifier.

Thank you! i am gonna check the chime box and i planned on getting a new amp soon anyway. Do you know where it is on a convertible?
