    850CSi full Supersprint install

    Hey guys,

I’ve searched high and low and can’t find anyone who’s installed a header back supersprint system so I thought I’d post the install of mine. I ordered it last year during the 50% special and it arrive about a month ago. I opted for the mid pipes with cats.

I’ll post pics up and will try to get a video with sound when it’s done.

So far one side of the manifolds are out...bank 1-6 hopefully out tomorrow. It’s a bear of a job.

    Xlnt!

Really interested in your exhaust adventure. I bought the rear exhaust during the 50% off sale.....didn't even think about the headers.

    Too many ;-)
I have the supersprint mid-pipe back. Previous owner said he was "disappointed" it was not louder, but I think it sounds perfect. Loud enough to be noticed, but not so loud that you wake up the neighborhood. Will be interested to know if the headers do anything for your power band, too.

+1 for videos and sound....maybe even a dyno?

Are you selling your stock exhaust?

    Hey guys,

So the system is installed...a few thoughts:

    - fitment is pretty accurate and didn’t require a lot of adjusting back and forth between the pieces.
    - install of the header was also straightforward and lined up well. The flanges were numbered for each cylinder
    - the center muffler hangers had to be modified by popping out the studs and putting in longer bolts. That took some heat and a lot of hammering...the pipes were too big to fit in them without modifying.
    - the pipes stick out a little more than is my preference but I’m going to try and go back and push every piece in as much as possible to see if I can reduce that. Everything except for the driver muffler is a sleeved install
    - I opted for the catted mid section and after letting them warm up I would say 90% of the exhaust smell went away. Not 100%...

It’s been really bad weather in Houston so I’ll try to get some pics and videos up when it clears up but initial impression is that it is definitely louder than stock but not by a whole lot. The tone changed to a deeper tone as well. I would say it sounds like stock +. I’m sure that you all that have straight pipes and magna flows are probably louder. Also, this is with the racing mufflers. I would think their standard muffler is quieter. It could probably be a little louder without being annoying but I would rather be quieter than louder and annoying.

If you’re wondering it does not sound like an Italian V12...

I would assume that with the Schrick cams installed there would be an increase in power but I don’t have a dyno to test. I probably would be a little disappointed over all if I had paid full sticker price for the full set but at the price point from last year’s sale I’m very happy!

I’ll probably hold onto the stock exhaust for now just for originality.

If you can get to your DME eproms and read the file, email it to me and I will modify it to a tuned version for you for free. Eprom programmers are cheap on ebay.

Here are some pics after install...

    Omega man 1969,

Thanks for the tip. I’ll buy one on eBay this week. I would rather burn a file on blank chips and have the stock chips put away. Is that ok?

Yes that's what I meant, you need to read the file from the stock chip as a .bin (binary) file. It will be 32Kb. Email it over, I'll add the tuned ignition tables and modify the checksum to match your original file. I can them email it back to you, then you can burn it to 2 new EPROMs.

Yah, it definitely sounds good and if I had someone to help I’d like to record some drive bys but for my personal taste it could be a little more aggressive. Supersprint is all over the map on sound with their ‘F1 Race’ mufflers. On a 2010 M6 it’s obnoxious to the point of a headache and on the 850 it’s not that loud to where I wouldn’t even want to see what the ‘sport’ sounds like.

Overall though I feel like I hear too much engine whine which is probably why I’d prefer the exhaust to be a bit louder. It’s not like on the V10 that the engine sounds ridiculously cool...
