How is the trunk lock supposed to work in a 2001 Z3 coupe?
Bentley says
Then under ZKE specific locking systems (1996+) it says:The locking system can be actuated by either front door lock or by the trunk lock / rear hatch. In Coupe models, only the UNLOCK option is available from the rear hatch lock. When the key is turned to the lock position, a microswitch signals the locking control module to lock all doors, trunk or rear hatch, gas tank flap and, in Roadster models, the glove compartment lid,
Specifically,in the ZKE locking system two mircoswitches are operated via the door lock cylinder at each front door:
1. Position 1 operated the door locking microswitch and activates the alarm system.
2. Turnking the key approximately 45* in the opposite direction (position 2) actuates the unlocking microswitch and deactivates the alarm system
Should the front doors unlock when you unlock the car from the rear hatch (yes?)
Should the front doors lock when you lock the car from the rear hatch (no, correct?)
Should the rear hatch lock when you lock the car from the front doors (yes?)
Should the rear hatch unlock when you unlock the car from the front doors (yes?)
Is there a way to only unlock the rear hatch without unlocking the front doors?
Thanks, mine doesn't work quite right so trying to figure out what is normal.
ok, looks like the coupe rear hatch can unlock and lock. So yes to all the above questions, save the last.
