Did you ever change out the front mesh in the bumper? Reason I ask, I owned a 95 M3. The 95's were known for having the same color mesh as the bumper itself.

I did not, but can not speak for the 23 yrs of ownership prior to me. However a quick Google search yields a mix of painted and black grills on 95s.
