please help me figure this out
all power window switches are lit up around the shifter. both front and rear right window work. the rear driver side window switch doesnt even light up. i thought at first it was the switch, so i swapped the switch from the working rear right window and it still didnt work, no lights either. i dont think its the window breaker switches at the top of the shifter since the rear right still works. i think there is only 1 fuse that controls all windows, so i dont think its a fuse.
i am assuming there is no power going to that door, but where can i trace it and fix it? is it the window motor? but if this was dead would the switch not light up either?
please help.
break in the wiring, bad motor, or bad window regulator assembly.
pull door apart, remove motor from regulator, do not disconnect from wiring, try with switch. if the motor works then regulator has to be the problem. if not then the motor or wiring is suspect.
As mentioned above check for a broken wire. if there is NO power at all going to the switch ( no illumination ) it tells me the switch is not getting power. So there most likely a break in the wiring going into the switch rather then exiting. If the switch is "dead" then power is not entering the switch. I'd remove the center console and start probing there.
Common problem with sedans; there is an accordian between the b pillar and rear door. with the frequent opening and closing sometimes the wire breaks in that junction.
