    Angel eyes

I have a 99 touring with hella facelift headlights... Bought it that way. Ever since I bought it, the angel eyes never worked. They were never hooked up. I found the wire, the other day and got them working. I had a prefacelift bumper and fogs. When I would turn on my parking lights the angel eyes would come on... With or without the fogs being on. And the Angel eyes would stay on and the fogs would turn off, when I turned the hi beams.
Tonight, I installed am m technic bumper with the corresponding fogs. After hooking everything up and doing a light check, I noticed my angel eyes were off. I turned off the fogs and the angel eyes came on. When I turned on my headlights, the angel eyes came back on and the fogs were also on. I switched on my hi beams and the fogs and ae's went out. Any ideas?

Angel Eyes were introduced in MY 2000. Your LKM doesn't know anything about them.

Some have connected them to the parking lights.

The standard programming turns off the fogs when the high beams are turned on so that part is normal.

IMHO: The best way to wire AE on a pre-facelift car is to make a harness with a relay. I pulled power from the terminal on the engine, triggered it with a wire from the relay/ECU box, and used the same grounds as the headlights. The trigger wire I chose is hot when the key is in the second position so they behave like DRLs.

Neither my 97 or my 01 E39s have the fogs go off with my high beams...
That might be country specific coding.

Sorry, i thought i said that in my original post. The ae's ARE wired to the parking lights.... The ae's worked great, when the prefacelift fogs were on there. After I installed the new bumper, with the newer style fogs, thats when the ae's changed how they worked. I did nothing to the Mae's. I cut the harness for the fogs, to wire the harness for the new fogs. That was the only wiring done. If i have to, I'll go in to further detail on my next post... Lol. Dont feel like typing right now.
