I'm playing mix-n-match with strut mounts, and discovered that v.3 mounts compress in use due to their design, unlike v.1 and v.2. I need to know how much. Could someone with a stock 93-95 525i sedan (or if you otherwise have v.3 mounts) please do the following: remove the dustcap, measure the vertical distance between 1. the hole in the strut mount, inside which is the shock pin and nut, and 2. the hole in the car's body, inside which is the strut mount. Measure once with the car on the ground and the suspension settled, that is, having been driven substantially since it was last raised. Then jack it up and measure the same thing with the wheel dangling. Should take 5 minutes and may contribute to figuring out a cheap and good lowering spring solution. Precision to within 2mm or 1/16", please.
