    Results of a 2mph 'crash'

Thought you all might like to see how a 2mph crash can nearly total a '97 840Ci. Our car was stationary at a curb when a large box truck in the traffic lane to the right started moving after a red traffic signal changed in order to turn left at the intersection. The driver 'eased' over into the curb lane before the corner and the left rear wheel struck our 840 just ahead of the right front wheel. Truck driver did not even know he'd struck something, and didn't stop. My wife 'chased' him up to the next intersection to get him to stop and pull into a parking area.

Took the car to the best repair shop in southeast PA. Work will be done extremely well, and all new parts (including fasteners) will be used. Top notch painting reputation. $13K+ was estimate. Another $1K and the 'Classic' insurance company would have paid agreed upon value and 'totaled' the car.

    Gary--

PS: All items in hand at the shop, and repair initiated. Shop manager and I were both surprised that EVERYTHING was still available, most had to be shipped from Deutschland.

Bummer dude. Just had mine repaired, but not all that happy with all the paint work. Will go over it with a fined tooth comb before I complain and have them fix the issues.

You don't have to ship it to Lithuania to have that fixed and the whole car painted to look factory new.
Looks to need new fender, new (good used) upper nose, some various plastic support pieces, and a few hours maybe on the frame bench to true the upper support
    Is the hood bent?

What I would do is remove every piece of trim, seals, plastic, badges, etc from the car first and then have the body shop paint up the new nose and both fenders off the car - along with the rest of the car. Then, have them install the front door seals and put the front of the car back together, take it home and reinstall all the trim bits, etc. that you refurbished while the car was at the shop. Including parts, that'll run you way less than $10k and your car will be perfect.

The shops will work with you in that scenario because them doing all the trim, etc. r/r is time consuming.
Plus, you get the whole car painted, not just the front (which is all insurance will pay for)
Thing is, you have to figure out how to get insurance to pay for it all... you might be able to play Monte Hall with the shop and source the parts for them, the money saved might pay for the rest of the car painted...

so sorry to see that, i had a similar issue but on the back bumper a while back. hopefully you wont have hard time to find the parts needed.
most shops will not invest the time needed to find the parts needed and will try to fix a lot of the stuff, so i would get involved with finding the parts if i were in your place.
