Offset FCABs vs AKG Really Offset FCABs

It is fairly plain to see in photos that the AKG FCABs are drilled offset another few millimeters out from the normal offset FCAB location (which is something like 16mm off center IIRC).

Anyone have any post-install caster data and/or photos with the AKGs?

Any idea how much additional caster you gain with these over standard offset?

Trying to sort out my options... track only car except bedding brakes and occasionally driving to the event.

Offset FCABs vs AKG Really Offset FCABs

Depends what model year you are driving. The Spindle(King Pin)/FLCA/FLCA Bushings/Strut Mounts we’re redesigned for 1996+M3.

May be acceptable for 1995M3 geometry.

98 M3 with 95 geometry Meyle arms (usual Bimmerworld kit). TCKline D/As with GC Race camber plates.

I'm sure they are "acceptable" otherwise AKG wouldnt sell em. Just wondering real world numbers.

I think full-on spherical mounts might be a bit much until i trailer the car everywhere.

Nah, the car would still certainly be civilized enough to drive to/from the track. It's not nearly as bad as putting in solid driveline mounts, a racing clutch or lightweight flywheel, or a number of other "because racecar" things you can do. There's some crazy people who use those eyeball things on street cars, though I definitely don't suggest that.

Anyways, point is the spherical mounts are something you should seriously consider for a car which is primarily tracked.

They aren’t bad. I have been using them for a couple of years and drive about 8k per year. Depends on how the hard core you want. Fresh stock suspension is pretty supple and you start losing that when you mod it. The delrin you are considering is not exactly compliant. It’s pretty close to solid.

How much castor did you dial in with them

As I recall, I can’t get as much positive castor on my car as is recommended for best handling. I do have vorshlag plates but have really only played with camber and mostly to minimize it. Maybe my issues are due to an accident in 99. I tried to adjust the SLR eyeballs as close to 96-99 spec as I could get. I have 255/40 fronts on 17x9 and would rub with 95 spec. I have an alignment somewhere but just moved so I am not likely to find it anytime soon.

Gottchya. With the 95 geometry arms I should be fine with normal offset, just wanted real numbers on the Akgs.

Anyone with SLR or AKG sphericals... do you need to press them onto the arms as opposed to BFH?

    BFH works.

I run the SLR adjustables on my dual purpose car, as they allowed me to even out the caster (+6.5) side to side. More is possible, but this is what I prefer.

How does the caster adjustment through the SLR work? I thought caster was forward and backward. The SLR can be adjusted sideways.

The FLCAs pivot about a point on the subframe - Adjusting the aft end of the FLCA outboard moves the King Pin pick-up ball joint forward (and inboard).

The geometry of the 1996+M3 King Pin/Spindle with 1995M3 (318/323/325/328) FLCA can be corrected with Camber Plates.
