    hard shifting, confusion in posts

I had my auto transmission rebuilt after the pumps seal and bushing failed, about 500 km after the rebuild I now have a very hard 1-2 shift, 2-3 shift and you feel the 3-4 shift...I did a search and got a million causes and remedies...the place that rebuilt the transmission wants it in to clear codes etc, but they are 3 hours away, I will make the trek...but is there anything I can try that's simple?

Has the ATF been changed, filter changed and the valve body cleaned? https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...hifting-solved

ATF was changed, filter changed, and I assume the valve body was cleaned when it was rebuilt, I hope....

One theory I had was maybe crap wasn't flushed and now that its been run, the filings etc have made their way to critical spots...

I have a warranty on the transmission, just the pain of the 3 hour drive to get there, and 3 to get back, and a day off work....

I didn't realize your fix was so simple, just dropping and cleaning the valve body....maybe...I do have an extra filter and pan gasket here...

Dropping and cleaning the valve body is a several hour job, I would assume they would do it as part of a transmission rebuild. Mine was full of crud.

You currently have a warranty, however if you drop the pan and use a different gasket than the shop, that may void your warranty (they may notice).
Even though it's a day lost from work, they have to fix it for free.

Maybe you can get them to compensate you in some fashion for the time lost from work if it's their fault, which it would appear it is.

    Good luck

I am taking it Friday, needed a getaway anyways, I will bring my gasket and filter, and I'm printing out Shogun's link, they can look at it...Hopefully Friday afternoon I'm booking it home with a smooth shifting transmission..
