Hi folks... complete car novice here.i have a 2010 520se.
Having issues as of today.previously the bearing joints in the linkage of my drivers side wiper had failed. Messy....
Since fixed with a reconditioned part and all was good.
Today, I drove home in heavy rain and my wipers went mental.lost both of the blades and they went completely out of sync.
Now the passengers side wiper moves as it should and there's no movement in it when the car is off...
The drivers side will not move when the wipers are switched on but the arm moves freely when the car is off.
Can anyone advise me on what the issue might be.i initially thought it might be the motor but that doesn't make sense if the passenger wiper works??
Please help

the driver side wiper is attached with a single nut under a plastic cover, maybe the nut came lose and it’s just spinning freely without moving the arm? if it is you’ve lucked out and fixing it is as easy as tightening the nut down
Cheers mate I'll have a look.

If the X5 is like my E61, there is a DIY fix sold by someone in the UK or you can buy a new or aftermarket arm assembly. Sorry, I do not have links or PN handy but I found what I needed earlier this year by using google.
