I've been experiencing juddering in the transmission line whilst turning to park for a while.. usually slowly.
The gearbox is obviously changing down and at every gear change the car would judder.
At first we thought it was a failed yoke in the drive shaft to the rear diff based on the sloppy start off juddering feeling.
I changed the front prop and it was worn out.
Fast forward to today and we're getting drive line traction control failure... mostly when driving from a stop position... even without turning.
Warning lights are the 4x4 in a circle..
ABS and hand brake on light.
I put the vehicle on grass. Stopped. Turned off and on.. then pulled forward quickly and the left rear wheel spun like crazy...
It should have been braked and power sent to the other wheels.
We assessed the tyre and at 9 months old .. all tyres are wearing evenly but the rear left has terrible wear on the outer edge.
Might this be a wheel position sensor fault?
Turning it feels like a 4x4 in diff lock on tarmac.. you can hear and feel tyres scrubbing in that scenario.
I'll get it plugged in but am concerned about dramatic costs.
I did the evaporator dash out job .. rocker gasket.. coils and all oil breather.. separator and vacuum hose replacements myself but driveline is trickier for me without a ramp.
Vehicle is June 2004 x3. 2.5L
Many thanks
Towed to X3 forum.
I would check the transfer case motor plastic gear first
Thanks . Is this easy to access ?/ assess ? Or us this a 4 post lift mechanic job?
