'91 E30 wiper/washer failure

Activated wiper/washer and both stuck on. When washer reservoir ran dry wipers kept going so had to pull over and remove fuse. Stalk would allow wiper speed change...just wouldn't shut either the wipers or washer off. Is this switch related? Fuse? Stalk removal videos I've seen are for pre-airbag cars. Mine has. Help?

it is most likely something in the wiper stock; remove the steering covers and see if there are any loose or broken wires or the contacts could be worn.

Had this happen on my M3 turned out to be a broken wire at the washer pump connector , not sure why but fixing wire cured it.

And when my wipers went haywire it was the wiper relay (in the fuse box)
