I have a 2004 E46 325i that has the SRS fault light displayed on the cluster. The item did previously have a front collision however only the driver’s airbag deployed. This was replaced many years ago along with the seat buckle/tensioner mechanism itself. The seatbelt was not replaced as the seatbelt would pull out and retract as normal. I’ve tried to have the SRS reset a few times while in the shop, but they continue to say that it will not reset due to another issue.
My tire shop reported a code 02 - Ignition Circuit and ZK1 - Belt tensioner, Driver. I have a LaunchPro OBD II scanner which shows a SRS fault code 02 - Belt tensioner, Driver and code 50 - Power supply.
Do these codes and the continued presence of the SRS fault mean that I should replace the seatbelt mechanism itself? Is there another component to the SRS system that I’m missing. The buckle component which is also called the tensioner has been replaced, so it's a bit confusing. The belt works properly and is not locked out like I would assume it should be if it were faulty.
Thanks in advance for any advise
Pull the drivers seat and check that all electrical connections are tight and spray them with electrical contact cleaner
