    Chassis mounted shifter

Thought I'd share a little with the track section, I decided to build a chassis mounted shifter instead of buying one just because I have all the equipment to do these things. Here is the result

    That's cool, dude!

My personal issue with shifters like these is that by only raising the lever 1" over OEM but adding 8" to the handle, you have these really long throws which can be strange.

Nice work though, looks really clean.

The trick is altering the length below the pivot point. The longer it is on the bottom the shorter the throws will be. I'll measure my travel distance this evening but its shorter than the factory shifter

1st gear to 2nd gear throw is right about 2 inches when installed

    Correct.
Thats why the raised tower / Samsonas type shifters work so well. The "below the pivot" length is not limited by the driveshaft / guibo. By raising the pivot above the floor not only do they gain height in the shifter there, they get much more room to play with the ratio of handle / selector.

Nice job on making your own body mount shifter.
I assume you are a machinist?

And correct I am a machinist, it's a blessing and a curse sometimes lol but i have a full machine shop and weld shop at my disposal so for personal parts and the fun of building something for myself its definitely worth it
