    Brake pad warning reset

    Hi all

My service light is showing 700 miles and the rear brake pads come up.

I have had a look and the rear pads look like they easily have about 10k of use in them.

I have tried to reset this via the ignition on, hold trip computer button etc and the menu comes up to reset the service items. It says rest brake pads possible, however when I try to do this and try to reset it , it comes up with reset unsuccessful?

Any ideas why this might be ?

I believe that the service indications can only be reset by a scan tool or by the dealer directly.

I have seen videos on you tube of how to do it but it doesn’t work manually , I think I’ll have to get someone to do it via software.
    Thanks

The reason you cannot reset it is because the wear sensor is already worn. I had the same problem on my wifes 2014 wagon.

You cannot just change the sensor because it will wear again and you are back to square one. You either have to change both the sensor and pads, or live with the warning until you feel you really have to change the pads.

Not really. He can reset it, but the sensor is already worn through and that's the reason the car will not let him.
