So the brake warning light came on. I check it with the CREATOR 310 and it tells me the left front wheel speed sensor is giving inconsistent information.
So I turn off the code and replace the sensor- but still the left front thinks it's skidding a bit and it is squeezing the ABS here and there. I plug in the reader to follow the number live and they all respond, speeds up and down. Then THE NUMBERS GO TO DASHES AND THE READER LOCKS UP. I cant get out of the menu. Have to unplug and re-boot it.
Watch the numbers live again and the same thing happens. Creator locks up.
I realize the symptoms of the invisible ice on the left front only show up only after the numbers go blank on the reader.
Am I on the brink of the ABS Trifecta?
Car can drive, but with spooky brakes.
My bet is yes.

<<PROGRESS>>
I read into the Bentley and on E46 fanatics to find that a new wheel speed sensor is expected to be treated with a very Germanic version of grease. So I went back in and did a quick bleed of the front two brakes- just drunken buddy method. Put di-electric grease on the sucker and plugged it in.
First blast around the corner is ok. we'll see.
Aaaand we're back. The invisible ice continues, so it's going away for Indy service.
After replacing the front wheel speed sensor and full bleed of front and rear brakes problem persists. Only code popping up now is: 68 (or 6B?) Steering angle sensor internal.
Anyone see this in the past?
Yep. The steering sensor can go bad. Search around. You have to code/adapt/calibrate whatever you want to call it, the new sensor when it gets installed. Use INPA or DIS (I doubt the creator does that...)

Correct sir. Creator is many things, but INPA it ain't.
letting the wizard do it.
Well- to close the loop so to speak- The Wizard of Wheels took a swipe at it and by replacing the front wheel bearing and counter ring the problem is solved. Happy E39 brakes again.
