    1999 323is cv axle

Hey guys I got a 1999 323is and just recently noticed that the driver side rear cv axle is making a clunking noise so I called around and only advance auto parts had the part so I bought one removed the old one and tried to install the new one but it wouldn't fit so I compared the old one with the new one and the new one is about a half inch longer then the old one. My thing is am I doing something wrong reinstalling the cv axle or could it be possible that advance part is not the same as oem?

Do not buy BMW parts at Advance Auto. Buy BMW parts at a trusted BMW specialist supplier, like FCP Euro, RM European, or Pelican Parts.

I'd try to help you find the correct part number, but I don't know even what bodyshell your car is, E36 or E46. If you provide the last 7 digits of your VIN, we can look that up for you.....or, you can go to realoem.com and enter the last 7 digits, and look it up for yourself.

+1 on what Chris said. Parts store parts are cheeeep junk. Go to www.realoem.command enter the last 7 characters of the car’s VIN. His enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to rear axle to find your parts.

    BMW never built a 99 323is. I think what you mean is a 323i coupe which is a E-36, and I bet they sold you one for a 99 323i Sedan E-46.
