I’ve recently purchased a 1994 325i with an automatic and I’m currently going through and finding little things that need to be fixed. One of the things that I’ve found is that the shifter/gear selector (not really sure what to call it) slides from any postion with just a push. I’ve noticed that there is actually a button that is stuck. I’m assuming that it should pressed/pulled to shift positions but unfortunately that’s not the case. The other day I was playing around with it and I pulled the handle off. While looking inside I noticed a white plastic rod that looks like is snapped. There is also a pin up in the handle. I was wondering if anyone could give me the proper name so that I can look these parts up so that I can replace them. Or even a link for the parts. Is this a common issue? Thanks!
