Hi,
I was planning on getting new tire for my current 16" wheels when I found out my neighbor had an extra set of wheels for his z3 coupe. Apparently he never used them because he thought they were staggered when we found out they were all 17" x 8". I fitted them and did measurements...They would fit and not rub anything. That said the front ones would stick about 1-2cm past the body of the car. My neighbor said that this would kick up rocks into the paint and because it is wider would cause stress on the suspension. My understanding of the 17" OEM wheels is 7.5" wide in the front and 8.5" in the back. Would that extra .5" in the front make all that difference? Thanks for the help, I will try to post pictures later.
They are probably different offset from what came stock on your car. Look for ETxx symbol stamped on the rim somewhere. Are they OE wheels? To answer your question, they most likely will work ok IF they are the same offset as your current rims.
+1 to what Mless5 said. Also, take a look at the link below to a really helpful guide on wheel fitment and spacing/offset. Hope this helps you out a bit!
