E-46 Aftermarket Apple CarPlay Install?

Hi, Was hoping to hear from anyone who has installed an aftermarket Carplay Unit into an E-46. I understand there are some "mechless" Units that will fit without having to preform surgery on the HVAC Tubing. i have an 04 330CI with Harmon Kardon and was told by one installer that any Unit am looking out must have a preamp voltage of at least 4 volts for the Harmon Amplifier to work properly? Would love to hear or see what CarPlay Units other People have gone with.

Not certain what apple car play is. So if this is not helpful feel feee to ignore. I attach my iPods to the car where the cd changer attaches. No modification to the car. More info in my sig.

The audio signals between the factory head unit and the factory amp are balanced differential. That means the signals’ voltages are substantially high than the typical line level signals. Some amps accept balanced differential signals. I installed a JL 400/4 amp in my 330Ci as the amp accepts balanced differential signals. So, check JL and other amp brands for amps that accept balanced differential signals.
