I have a 2005 E83. Late last year, my A/C went out. I didn't think much of it, didn't make a point to prioritize diagnosing. Later that winter, I realized that my heat stopped working.
The electronic panel still works and the blower motor blows air. In all cases, it appears to be blowing the current temperature of the air.
I understand how to diagnose these systems individually. Is there a failure in this vehicle that would affect both systems?
Thanks,
Warner
I went on line for a fix for the A/C, I also have a 2005, not putting out cold air and found a suggestion to disconnect the main wiring connection for the HVAC head end unit. Something about powering down and resetting the system. It worked, the A/C is again working but the system is still weak.
The defroster will put out cold air with the temp set at it's lowest setting, something is going on but not sure what to try next.

Update on our 2005 X3: I stopped at my local parts store and with the addition of about a third of a can of R134 I now have AC that is putting out cold air.
They had the gage/hose/trigger that they loan you. With the car running and the A/C system on, you set the ambient temperature on the gage then pull trigger.
Again, I did not use the whole can.
