I was in London for a few months and finally got back up to where my 94 740il was stored as I plan on doing a 6 speed swap this summer. I jumped the car and the hazard signals stayed blinking as soon as it turned on. I looked over the relays and noticed the blinker relay was ticking and because I needed to drive the car back at night, I removed the hazard light fuse which solved the problem temporarily. I am wondering what could be the source of the issue as well as if anyone has encountered this before?
In addition, when I pulled out of the garage space I noticed a rubber ring that looked like a donut sitting on the ground which had broken and fallen off sometime while I was away (I'm guessing due to the old age). I attached a picture of the piece and am wondering if anyone knows the name of it as well as what it does?
Thanks for any input!

Hi. My guess is the "crash relay " part 1388 533 has given up. I had same issue a few months ago. Either that or the indicator relay is a goner. That part that has dropped off looks like a support ring from the rear muffler. Hope I'm right and that helps a bit. Good luck
There was a series of defective crash alarm relays, the brown one in the fuse box left hand side https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...ating-flashers
But it also sometimes happens when you jumpstart it and the battery was very empty, just push the button and see if it disappears.
The 'donut' could be this one on the rear muffler http://bmwe32.masscom.net/sean750/dr...ng/Image28.jpg
part numbers for these items 11 and 14 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_0146
I assume # 14, in case it is an original part

Thanks for the replies! And as for the donut, it looks a bit rounder, almost like a really thick 2" o ring

The donut is indeed an exhaust hanger as Shogun pointed out. There are two different styles. One is more like a belt material the other a fat softer rubber, which if OEM, would have a wire embedded inside.
As for hazards. As mentioned its a pretty common thing after a dead or absent battery. Even if for a short while. I had done much electrical work on my E32 over the years and very often they would kick on. A simple pressing of the hazard switch would clear them.
