    I'm now live on BaT!

Well the time has come and I decided to put my 37K mile 1992 850i 6-speed up for sale. I'm a big fan of Bring-A-Trailer, so I decided to give them first crack at it. I'm not sure if any of you fellow 8er's frequent that site, but for those who do I'd appreciate any commentary you could provide to help educate folks about these cars. Some of the silly comments I've read in past auctions are just based on downright ignorance about these cars.

Thanks guys. A couple of hours into it and I'm already having to defend why I didn't remove the cosmoline from the intake manifolds. I guess that's par for the course on BaT. As I often say, "It's only ever original once."

Great presentation of the car. The videos add a lot of value to the listing. Interior looks pristine! Good luck with the sale!

I only checked the current bid and I'm already happy. I have an individual black black M73 with 36k miles so not quite the same but it should be worth more than the $15k or $20k (What did Carlin's car sell for) the last two M73s on BAT sold for. Yours at $18k with 6 days to go is encouraging.

Carlin's car sold for what it did because it was Carlin's car. That accounts for about $10k of the price on that one

Someone on BaT said Carlin's car went for $32k. It was an auto with average mileage if I recall correctly. Definitely a celebrity tax on that one, but still really cool if you are a fan of his.

I would say your low mileage car is in a different league than the two that recently sold on BaT. One had a bunch of miles on it and the other had moderate miles but was showing a good amount of wear along with a vinyl wrap.

But $22 USD is equal to $32 CAD so I'd be happy.

CI's with the M73 start at 30k Euro in Germany. I suspect a 36k mile CI would be around 50k Euro. NA prices really lag Europe in this variant.

Thanks. I can take it to Germany then if I pay the 20% VAT on what it's worth? or wait until 2026 when it will be 30 years old for zero VAT. 2026, I'll be like 70 years old and ready to retire.

    This 92 6 speed is now a $27K

Did you say you have an Individual CI? I think an Individual CI would bring all the money. Pretty much CSI tier in my books. At least in Germany

I think there is also a 10% tariff on all automobiles whether they are vintage/classic or not before the VAT is applied.

That six speed on BAT should sell for $50k.

Yes I have an individual Ci. It's not a big deal except for the CSi wood trim. And the steering is very light at low speeds. BMW Canada ordered the last 850 Cis with left over factory bits from the CSi. It's one of their rebranded 96s so I don't believe it was a special order.

    I'd be happy at $28,850.

I'm starting to wonder what the Dinan TT cars are looking like market wise. Problem is, hard to find any for sale.

I have tried to track all sales for the last 3 years here at Dinan8.com ... not many come up for sale.

There is a possibility that I will put mine up for sale in July or August... we will see.

For those of you considering selling your e31 (or any rare BMW) and you're willing to put a little more effort into it than just advertising it on eBay or AutoTrader, I highly recommend Bring-A-Trailer. I've noticed well presented BMWs and Porsches tend to do pretty well there, especially when the seller is engaged and sets a realistic reserve. All it cost me was $99 to list, $39 for a Carfax report, and a bit of my time to collect photos and develop the listing with the agent. Sure once it was listed I had to put up with the occasional ignorant comment from the Troll living in his parent's basement who thinks he's an expert, but they were more of a nuisance than anything.

In only a week my listing received over 13,800 views with 735 watchers. There is no way I could have got that kind of coverage in such a short time on the other websites I mentioned. Anyway I wanted to throw this out as a single data point regarding my experience with BaT.

I've enjoyed my time here on e31 Bimmerforums. Thanks for all your help during my ownership.

Thank you for the info Sean. I'm currently in process of listing three big ticket items with them... I'm excited... and happy to hear that you had good experience with them.
    Thank you for the recommendation.

That's great to hear. I like that they place a hold on the bidder's credit card to keep them accountable. Seems like a great place to buy and sell.
